Warrior’s Realm Muay Thai & MMA Academy is honoured to host an incredible year-long program designed to take participants further than they ever thought possible. Introducing Mixed Martial Arts champion, BJ Penn’s “Live Like a Champion” project - a bold experiment unlike any other.
For The Live Project, Warrior’s Realm is inviting a select group of students to live as examples of the best martial artists – the best people – that they can possibly be, for all of 2010. This program is a one-year experiential training course where we consider an entirely different kind of curriculum and methodology for teaching people the martial arts -- physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. Living as an example of health and fitness, an example of conscious consumption – this is the domain of the true champion. To actually live as a role model for others is a lot harder than learning how to fight or perform the martial arts.
It is beyond technique. |
 |
Over the course of the year, members of the program will connect with some of the most progressive athletes and teachers in the martial arts world (and beyond), learning how to take the martial arts and make it mean something - make it stand for something beyond the obvious.
The principal qualifications for acceptance in The Live Like a Champion Project are desire, enthusiasm, drive, and commitment. You don’t need to be in the best shape of your life – you just have to be willing to get there in 12 months. You may even have injuries and limitations -- you'll simply have to make adjustments for them. You don’t need to know anything about nutrition, injury prevention, or MMA – you just have to be willing to learn.
The purpose of this project is to transform participants - on all levels. This program is not for everyone, but if it calls to you contact Warrior’s Realm at (250) 703-0092 for more information, the guidelines and full curriculum. We invite you to submit an application for review.

The Fight Girls had a great weekend in Las Vegas! All three girls, trained hard, fought hard and put on a great show! Wins went to both Rebecca Mullock and Shelly Strachan. After dominating in the third round, Robyn Nicholson came 2nd place in her bout.
Fabulous job girls! Also, kudos to Kru Keli for her great job on corner coaching the girls!

After all was said and done, Scott Judson, from Warrior's
Realm Muay Thai & MMA Academy proved that he has
the “heart of a lion” when he recently
stepped into the squared circle once again. In his
fourth Muay Thai fight, Judson put on an incredible
show for all watching – and what better time
to put on a show than in a city known for its shows
(among other things) – than in Las Vegas! Scott
put everything on the line, and came out victorious.
Coached by his instructors
Kru Shawn and Kru Keli Carpenter, owners of Warrior’s
Realm, Scott dominated all three rounds of the fight,
winning by unanimous decision. In a special guest
appearance, Stephan Bonnar of the Ultimate Fighting
Championship presented Scott with his medal –
his was the only fight that Bonnar awarded the medals!
“It was a great honour,”
says Judson of the experience, “It was really
cool meeting Stephan, and a great topper to an awesome
week!” Click

For the Instructors of Warrior’s Realm Muay
Thai & MMA Academy, the past week has been an
adventure that left memories that will last a lifetime!
Owner and head instructor, Kru Shawn K. Carpenter,
along with wife, (Kru) Keli Carpenter, brought three
members of the Academy with them to Las Vegas for
their certification under Grandmaster Toddy and the
Muay Thai International Association.
|
Mr. David Hoffart, Mr. Sean Parente, and
Mr. Scott Judson all made the journey to Vegas for the first
time for a week long intensive course that saw them training
from 9:00am to 8:00 pm every day. The three Muay Thai practitioners
received their official “Trainer” certification
at the end of the grueling week which covered every aspect
of teaching the “science of nine limbs” from leading
beginners, to introducing sparring, to the art of pad work
– one of the key ingredients that distinguishes Muay
Thai.
“I am very proud of them!” exclaims
Kru Shawn, “they all did extremely well, and I am very
pleased to have them represent our Academy.”
For the past year, the three Trainers took
part in the exclusive Instructor College at Warrior’s
Realm, preparing them for their time in Vegas, and for their
new positions within the Academy. It is the first time that
the program has been run, and it covered every aspect of teaching,
and keys to personal growth. The program was developed as
a way of passing on the best methods of instructing gained
from years of trial and error as well as personal growth workshops
and seminars, and tools given by some of the leading authorities
in the martial arts industry.
Along with the three Trainers, Keli Carpenter
was put through her paces during the week. She was officially
awarded the title of Kru (Instructor, in Thai), which is a
huge accomplishment in the World of Muay Thai. It can take
years of being first an assistant instructor, and then a Trainer,
before gaining that recognition.

The tremendous power, ferocity, and beauty that is
Muay was captured and unleashed during the battle
n Bellingham II. In an incredible night of fights
that show cased four Warrior’s Realm fighters.
First up was Corbin Carpenter, at only 8 years old,
who put on a fantastic display of Muay Thai technique
and heart in an action packed exhibition match that
only went 1 round.
|
|
Next up was Scott Judson, with a well rounded arsenal
that included viscous knee strikes & hard hitting
kicks. It was no surprise to see Scott’s hand
raised in victory at the end of the bout.
|
|
Next up was fifteen year old Sean Parente with non-stop
action right to the final bell, making it a close
match in the end the judges awarded the fight to Sean’s
opponent.
|
|
Finally, Tyler “knuckles” Klassen in
the main event of the night; a fight that was worth
waiting for! The only bout of the night to feature
full Muay Thai rules (including elbows) and no protective
equipment (no headgear, elbow pads or shin guards),
this explosive match up went the entire five rounds.
No stranger to the ring, “knuckles” dominated
his opponent using all weapons – punches, knees,
elbows and kicks. In the third round the referee even
stopped the fight due to a huge gash in Klassen’s
opponents forehead.
|
After deliberating, officials decided to allow the fight to
continue. Tyler continued his barrage, showing true Muay Thai
heart, Sam (Klassen’s opponent) fought the final round
using everything he had. In a very controversial ending, the
judges awarded the fight to Sam – at the announcement
Sam shook his head in disbelief. In a show of honour that is
at the heart of Muay Thai, Sam hung his gold medal around Klassen’s
neck, signaling that the win had truly belonged to Tyler.
